Well I’m back at sea heading to Boston; we are tying up at the USS Constitution Jetty. Which I understand has the USS Constitution floating museum I’ll see about checking it out. One of the guys is looking forward to seeing the Boston Aquarium (I forget the name) it suppose to be big and spectacular I might tag along and see it as well.
My big plans for the \weekend are to pick up some trinkets for the kids and get Dawn a new frog for her ever growing collection I suspect the museum will have one that Dawn will not have, maybe a tree frog her favorite. I’ll have to see what kind of educational books or games they have for Eileen and Tynan as well.
The Sunday we are in the MONTREAL is having their Christmas party. I’m ending up being duty but it saves me a full day off so I can see more things, originally I was suppose to be duty the day before which would have given me 2 half days off to see Boston. I don’t mind missing the Christmas fun if I get to see more of the Port.
The Friday we get in is Americas Black Friday, which has noting to do about race but it is the first day after the US thanksgiving so major sales are happening. The thought behind the name is from civil workers and shop owners labeling it black Friday due to the massive crowding of the malls and extras work they have to do for crowd control or cashiering. Another theory that developed was that since it is the start of the Christmas season business were starting to operate in the black and making their profits for the year. When I first heard the name I thought it was linked to a massacre but I think that was in Russia not the US.
It is funny Tina mentioned that Greg was sailing because I thought to look for him when we were doing a fueling RAS with the tanker but be were to far apart to make out anyone.
I still cannot use LJ properly, I managed to log on and start a post but I cannot get past the header so I’m getting Dawn to post this again for me, and when I get home I’ll get her to show me how to use LJ as she has more experience blogging then me (maybe she will clean up my grammar for me as well, she is better at that than me as well).
Today I’m doing lifebuoy sentry during flying stations and simultaneous boarding exercise. It was interesting to see the Helicopter land on deck and to see how close the blades get to Flight co (were the senior Firefighter and Lifebuoy sentry sit). When the Helicopter lands the blades are level with the window to Flight co which gave me visions of the blades coming off and sailing through the window I know chances of that happening are 10,000,000:1 (it was the newer helicopter we have not a Sea King).
I guess this is all for now I’ll write again after Boston.
